Tonight is GEEK night @AYM!

ist2_8791372-geeky-guy-offering-a-flowerIt’s finally here! So, with a certain holiday right around the corner that we as a ministry don’t celebrate, we decided to try and leverage the holiday season, and provide a fun, safe place for the teens (and STAFF too) to dress up and have a good time! (come on, who doesn’t like wearing a good costume?) So, AYM is having a GEEK night as our first theme party of the year! In the future, we’ll be doing 4 theme party’s a year, with tonight’s GEEK night being our fist go at it! We’re so pumped! Decorations are in place, games are ready to go, the DJ’s ready to spin some fat beats, (lame attempt to hold onto my youth :) ) pizza, caramel apples, crazy amounts of candy, and so much more are ready to make this a night the teens won’t soon forget! And oh yeah, everyone will be dressed up in their best GEEK grab in an effort to win a prize for best costume! We’ll be giving away a prize to the best guy costume, and another prize to the best girl costume! So come to ACTIVATE tonight @7pm for GEEK night, dressed up, and ready to have a GREAT time! Who says church can’t be fun?! geek night logo

Wednesday Nights

Wednesday night 10.14.09 (attendance 42 teens)

Wednesday night 10.14.09 (attendance 42 teens)

Hey hey! I just wanted to write letting you know how ACTIVATE’s been going on Wednesday nights! In a word, it’s been awesome! For a bunch of reasons. I’ve been running this ministry since 2005 and it has been a wild ride! Up’s, down’s, in’s and out’s, and lots of lessons learned along the way! I wouldn’t trade any of it for anything in the world, as it’s all played a huge role in the Christian, husband, future father, (yikes :) )son, brother, pastor, and friend that I am today! God teaches us so much, and all to often we aren’t aware of it until we’re able to look back at our life a few years later…

In regards to ACTIVATE youth ministry, and my role as Pastor to this generation of young people and their families I’ve learned a ton! Part of that “ton”, is knowing that I still have so much to learn! For a long time knowing I still had so much to learn, used to discourage me if I’m honest. I used to get impatient with myself and frustrated, and as you can imagine, an impatient, frustrated individual isn’t exactly the kind of guy teenagers wanna be around alot :) Read the rest of this entry »

We’re back!!!

So the AYM 2009 Fall Retreat was AMAZING!! Every year we’ve done these retreats (since October 2005) I’ve left them wondering how in the world can we beat that next year?! And each and every year God blows my mind, by doing just that! I already can’t wait for next year’s retreat! We had amazing times of worship, amazing devotions, timely and powerful times of prayer, and the fun factor was through the roof this year with out first annual AYM Amazing Race! What a great time! I’ve posted a few pictures for you to check out…

and we’re off!

ACTIVATE youth ministry leaves today to head up to Singing Hills Conference Center in Plainfield, New Hampshire. Were packing 2 vans as tightly as possible :) and taking 26 bodies away for a weekend where they can connect with each other through laughter, games, competitions, a few surprises, and making a ton of memories! Most importantly, they will be given an opportunity to be away from all of the distractions that life, and the tough choices they make everyday, to connect with their God who desperatly longs for their full attention. Join me and the staff in praying that they’re as excited about their weekend with God, as He is about His weekend with them, and that it spills over and continues in their everyday life back home!
