God’s Extreme Makeover starts 1/20/2010!

“But the fruit of the spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS and SELF CONTROL.” Galatians 5:22

Starts tonight 1/20/2010

Is your life filled with those things?! The bible calls them the fruits of the spirit, signs that are evident in our daily lives when/if we’re living in close relationship with Jesus. If you’re like me, there’s times where life doesn’t make it easy for us to display the right kind of fruit all the time! But, there’s something you and I can do to make us more consistent in these areas! Give God room! Yep, it may be time for us to allow God some room in our life to perform an, “Extreme Makeover.” Join us at AYM over the next 4 weeks on Wednesday nights @ 7pm starting tonight 1/20/2010! We’re going to look at the “fruits of the spirit” and see where we are in our lives, and try to…

1. PICTURE what the right fruits look like…

2. Talk about the PROBLEMS that arise for us and make it hard to display the right fruits…

3. Make a PLAN to allow God the room He needs in our life to complete His “Extreme Makeover.”

See you tonight! ACTIVATE youth ministry… GET SOME!

Long time no talk :)

Hey guys (all 3 of you that read this thing ;) )

Sorry that it’s been forever since I posted! This time of year (December – January) seems SO busy for me, and as a result the BLOG fell behind! Hope you all had an excellent Christmas with your friends and family, and are geared up and excited for a fantastic 2010!!!

Anyway, I was journaling today, and my reading plan has me reading the book of Revelation. I admit, this book has often intimidated me because of its subject of choice (the end of the world) and confused me quite a bit because of the way it’s written, so in the past I’ve always steered clear of it. But when I saw Revelation chapters 1-4 on my reading schedule for today, after I tried to justify skipping it ;) I decided to start fresh, and hope for the best…

Wow! So far so good! The book starts off with Jesus showing up in grand fashion to John, while John is on the island of Patmos. Jesus then tells John to write what he sees and hears in letters that are to be sent to 7 churches. These letters are filled with encouragement, warning, correction, and confimation that Jesus is in fact returning to make all things right. Jesus ends each letter with, “Are your ears awake? Listen.”

As Jesus repeats, “Are your ears awake? Listen…” in each of the 7 letters, I became more and more aware of just how hard God tries to get a hold of us, and for how long He’s been doing it. It’s crazy! It’s flattering, and humbling really. That the God of the universe would actually take the time, and make the effort to reach out to us! It truly is amazing to think about! All this to say, I hope you realize that the God of the universe is taking the time, and making the effort to reach out to YOU! Are your ears awake? Listen…for His voice, His encouragement, His warning, His correction…

“The people I love I call to account – prod and correct and guide so that they’ll live at their best. Up on your feet, then! About face! Run after God!” Reveation 3:19 the message

When you hear His voice (and you will if you’re listening) respond to it by getting back on your feet, turning away from the things that distract you from Him, the things He’s warning you about, and run back in His direction giving Him your undivided attention so you can live at your best! After all, an ever-growing relationship with you is what He’s after! Are your ears awake? Listen…
